Child’s Play
I love to watch Emma play. It is almost as if I can see the wheels turning inside of her little brain. The things she says and does are so funny.
For example, earlier today, she reaches into her dolly pack ‘n play and says, “Shhhh….come here baby, mommy’s here!” I had to try to refrain from laughing!! She mimics everything I do and say, so I really have to be very careful these days.
Now Garrett….he is a PHONE man!! If there is a phone within 10 yards of him, he will see it and head in for the kill. The first thing he does is to put it up to his ear and say “Hi”…..and the next step…..to turn and run as fast as his little legs will carry him in the opposite direction where I am standing!!! He is such a crack up!!!
I do have a problem engaging in child’s play, however. Not quite sure why that is, but I can’t just sit down and play for long periods of time with my kids. I hope that it isn’t just me who is this way…..and other moms deal with the same thing. I do try to spend a little time playing with each of them every day, even if it is not something that comes easily to me. I want them to always remember me doing little things with them every day while they were growing up.

It’s definitely not just you!! I have a really hard time “playing”. If it’s something crafty or educational I’m a little better, but when they are little it’s harder. As Emma gets older you’ll see that alot of play time things become easier (and more fun for you!). Haley is now into board games and that Scene It game. She loves to take nature walks and loves when we explain what everything is. She’s weird! LOL Bike rides and walks too. She’s also starting to take an interest in sports so it’s very cool to watch her learn some of the rules of playing each different one. It gets easier!! I promise!
As for boys…well, I’ve heard that it can be a little bit harder to connect with them sometimes since all they want to do is play cars and guns and stuff! LOL I think little boys will turn anything into a gun just so they can make shooting noises. Go buy a little water gun and shoot at him every once in awhile and he’ll probably think you’re the coolest mom ever!!
